Vanen - the feathers of paradise is the cross portrait between a rare species, the Vanen (Greater Emerald Bird of Paradise), and a photographer, Loïc Degen. The film tells the story of his quest and his sixth expedition to the heart of the Aru jungle, in the southeast of Indonesia, with seven companions from Wakua, a village in the archipelago.
For the villagers, Loïc has become one of them. So, he now enjoys the privilege of confidences. He is inexorably attracted by the legends and myths of a neglected population, so poor materially and yet so rich... What to feed to infinity the quest of a 34 years old man who always knows how to let himself be amazed by the beauty, the subtlety and the poetry of the beings and the things which surround him.
