This video-project is featuring the life of Philip Potter - a son of the Caribbean, a charismatic and inspiring leader, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC). Philip Potter was and is motivating and inspiring people all over the world with a unique strong prophetic voice and a vivid ecumenical vision.
The Video is based on audio-visual material, such as photos from his childhood and youth, speeches and interviews (the latest feature taken in may 2011 in Lübeck), original sound of his speeches and interviews, e.g. Key passages of his report to the WCC Vancouver Assembly 1983 - which gave the title to this video: The House of the Living Stones.
Additional footage includes testimonies of Philip Potter?s wife, Bärbel Wartenberg-Potter, and of his successor as general secretary of the WCC, Konrad Raiser.
Outstanding issues are youth, mission, combatting racism, justice and peace, globalisation, social thought and action. Highlights are the WCC Uppsala Assembly 1968, Philip Potter?s speech to the 1983 WCC Vancouver Assembly, his presence at the 1998 WCC Harare Assembly together with Nelson Mandela, and at the 2006 Porto Alegre WCC Assembly - and his latest refl ections in 2011 at his home in Lübeck.
